individuals in:. Seminars, workshops, conventions and conferences, hearing health care
professionals, places of worship, schools, colleges, senior centers, youth groups, State
Department of Rehabilitation, Technology and Persons with Disabilities, Department of
Education, etc.

boards including:. City of Irvine Speakers Bureau, Panelist for "Self-Employment of
the Enterprising Disabled." (S.E.E.D.), Panelist for Parent/Student/Education Forum.

State Self Help for Hard of Hearing People;SHHH Convention, a nonprofit organization.

Served; California Self Help for Hard of
Hearing People State Board of Trustees..
Past Public Relations Board Member for local
hard of hearing people support group. Increased mailings from 35 to more than 500, and
introduced bulk mail..
Promoted the first sailing event; "Sail
for Hard of Hearing People" May 1994. Hard of Hearing people from around California
came together to have fun and increase hearing awareness through news publicity and large
SHHH signs displayed on the sailing vessels.
Revised and updated a 106 page manual,
"Hearing Loss Resources", 1994 for professionals, colleges, libraries,
individuals, etc.
For a fun and informative 3-day weekend in
1992, coordinated 60 volunteers for the Orange County festival and included clowns and a
magician. Created an "EQUAL ACCESS TO COMMUNICATION" extra
large booth for an opportunity to introduce ourselves as hard of hearing people and some
special equipment available. (Devices demonstrated were: open, closed and real-time
captioning, infrared system, alerting devices, TTYs, etc. and information on the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
In 1991, Formed a group of advocates (The
magnificant seven) for speaking engagements at various clubs to assist in the
understanding between the community and people experiencing a hearing loss.
In 1990, after 2 years of research compiled
the first comprehensive "Hearing Impaired Directory for Orange County". Provided
to individuals, local colleges, libraries, hearing healthcare providers,
psychological services, etc |
